BEEP is fairly straightforward, you just use something like
BEEP 100
which might give a nice sound for a jump or
BEEP 30
for a quick firing sound. The argument is the duration, so if you make it too small you might not hear anything. Of course, it all depends on how much CPU time is left at the end of each frame. If you have 12 sprites on screen simultaneously it might take a while to finish playing the sound.

ah now i realise where i was going wrong, d'oh I thought the beeper was tied into the SOUNDS part of the utility so I was putting BEEP 0 or 1 in my script, no wonder I was getting nowt!
thanks mister for clearing that up

Hi, Is there a way of cycling through the BEEPs to hear what they sound like before you implement them? Thanks.

Hi Bill,
at its current state (4.6) AGD does not allow you to preview BEEP sounds as you would do with AY ones. You'll just have to experiment with different values in the game script until you are satisfied with the result.
