This is a new adventure for Bob. Bob has been working hard to expend his garden maze after ridding it of those pesky transparent ghouls from "Bustin' Ghosts". Sadly, due to an outbreak of a deadly mutated pathogen, Bob's beautiful garden maze has become home to a horde of zombies. Help Bob to clear his garden maze of this inhuman infestation.
Before setting out on this mission, Bob must first collect his zombie gun, which only kills zombies. He doesn't have to look far as it will be right in front of him. The number of bullets in the gun is shown in bottom right hand corner of the screen, and to the right is the total number of extra bullets Bob is carrying. When the gun is empty, press R for Bob to reload his zombie gun. The gun holds six bullets at a time.
Bob has worked really hard on his garden maze, and it is now so huge that he has had to divide it up into equal sized sections, each with their own co-ordinates which are displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen. The maze is 128 sections long by 127 sections wide, giving a total of 16,256 sections.
Ammo crates and extra lives are scattered liberally around the maze.
Bob is awarded a "Clearance Bonus" when everything has gone (completely) from his current location and he moves to another section.
Here is the documented source code to "Lurching Dead". The part most people may be interested is the section which allows over 16,000 screens which can be found in the Main Loop 2 event code. It is quite a simple formula and doesn't need a random number to be seeded as was used in "Berzerk" on which this game is based. Unlike Berzerk, Lurching Dead does not suffer from many duplicate screens.
Here and here are interesting articles on how the original Berzerk maze was generated.
