How do I get standalone games working independent of AGD?
I am using 4.6 on Spectrum. I saved it to tape, and tried the one-liner program to load it, and it just resets the Spectrum when finished. I have very limited experience with the Spectrum (even typing that one-liner was a bit of a chore) and am close to running out of patience.

What do you mean? AGD creates stand-alone games... You have to create a new TAP file (using an emulator), then decide to save the game from the AGD menu when it's finished. Complete with a basic loader, then RANDOMIZE USR 32000 to start the game.

I couldn't get it working when I made my own BASIC loader, even though I did exactly what the manual said. So I just used the one that AGD generated.

I used the exact code that was in the manual. It doesn't matter now anyway as I just use the loader that AGD generates and import a loading screen.

I used the exact code that was in the manual... Oh i see!... Well maybe you typed the "CLEAR 31231" as reported in the manual, but that was only an example. You have to change the CLEAR value after checking the game start address. Then, for example, if you save a game and it starts at 30870, you have to CLEAR "30869". The only steady value is the RANDOMIZE USR 32000.
