Hi all,
Not sure how this happened, but my the blank space (before '!') in the character set shows fine in AGD but when drawing something like "Hello World" to the screen, the space between the words is showing garbage (or part of a sprite - can't be sure). Any ideas?

Things can get corrupted I'm afraid, some parts of AGD can be a bit twitchy. For me, it's messages that get corrupted a lot - unfortunately it can be impossible to recover from it. I do take some precautions though, which can help reduce the impact of corrupt projects... * Don't test then continue work, save your state before testing, then reload it after testing - it's tedious but it helps avoid issues. * Save versions - I usually just enumerate them, its always good to be able to go back - especially when you start running out of script editor memory. * Only add or edit 1 text message at a time, go back to the main menu each time. * Plan ahead - I think it's good to have a quick rough draft of a game, then plan for a full version... it lets you set the sprites up and messages, objects etc which can be problematic for memory usage. * ZX-Paintbrush is a very useful program, lets you draw sprites and title screens and I find it very useful for planning blocks as well. It's also worth baring in mind that a new version is in progress, with some really useful command additions

Any ideas? Cheers, LW. Yes, unfortunately it happens... Perhaps you edited the message a few times? If the project is big(again not to be rewritten), instead use unnecessary space character (e.g. *), then erase content, and insert between the words.. And often take snapshots(if the emulator), after each big action..)

Also, I don't use space in messages, I use '_' and blank out the character - I remember reading somewhere on here that spaces can cause a lot of problems in text.

I'm just starting a project now the main concepts are proven; I don't suppose you happen to know when the next release is (approx.) and if it will be compatible with 4.6?

Can't say when it'll be ready... but we can say with some certainty that 4.6 projects won't work I'm afraid. It's a tricky time, holding off on a couple of ideas myself for the new version. Stick with it though, even with the corruption and bugs, AGD is still awesome
